•    Late last week, Congress passed – and the president signed – an $8 billion legislative package to combat coronavirus

  • Included in the bill is a provision eHI advocated for, which would waive Medicare telehealth restrictions during the coronavirus public health emergency

  • Last week, the largest annual health IT conference announced they are canceling the conference
  • In an interesting shift, HIMSS decided to go forward with “Virtual HIMSS20” – for more information, click HERE 


  • Update on Congress’ work to address health transparency
    • Last Thursday, Adam Buckalew – Deputy Health Policy Director, Senate HELP Committee (majority) – joined eHI’s Cost Transparency Task Force Meeting to provide an update on Congress’ work in the area

    • eHI staff prepared an executive summary on the Strategy on Reducing Regulatory and Administrative Burden Relating to the Use of Health IT and EHRs, broken down by specific recommendations and actors

    • eHI staff has met with 9 House and Senate offices over the past two weeks to discuss priority areas, including health data privacy and telehealth
    • eHI staff also met with bipartisan staff of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee to discuss our health data privacy project – Building a Consumer Privacy Framework for Health Data
